Scope and method

The inventory covers the historic province of Silesia within the present Polish voivodeships of Lower Silesia, Opole and Silesia. A record is created for a discrete piece of railway engineering with its own construction history. Scenic stretches of line, however photogenic, do not get records; the structures on them do.

Every dimension on this site is taken from published technical or historical literature and is attributed on the references page. Where sources disagree the figure from the more recent technical account is used and the disagreement is noted in the record. Measurements taken on site by the compiler are marked as such, and there are very few of them.

Using the inventory

Safety. Several structures listed here are disused. Tunnels on the Pilchowice–Wleń section are unlit, unmaintained and closed; the Pilchowice bridge deck has no public access. Nothing on this site should be read as an invitation to enter railway property.

An independent inventory of railway engineering structures in Silesia. Compiled from published sources and site visits. Not connected with any infrastructure manager, operator, museum or public authority.

Figures are quoted as published and are not independently surveyed. Access notes describe conditions observed on a particular day and must not be relied on for planning. Several structures listed here are disused and unsafe.
